About Dr Sheryl van Staden
I qualified as a veterinarian in 1989 at the University of Pretoria, Onderstepoort. After 5 years in general small animal practice, I returned to Onderstepoort to specialise in Diagnostic Imaging and received an MMedVet Degree in 1999.
I have since been registered as a Specialist Veterinarian (Diagnostic Imaging) with the South African Veterinary Council.
I have also been a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging since 1998. My professional work has included both private referral practice and academic lecturing at Universities enhancing my skills as a radiologist and providing varied and broad experience in Diagnostic Imaging.
I was a Senior Lecturer at Onderstepoort until 2000, when I returned to private practice and worked as a specialist veterinary radiologist in Durban. In the period of 2001-2004, I gained international experience and had the unique opportunity of lecturing veterinary students at an American University on the small island of St Kitts in the Caribbean and I also worked as a radiologist in a referral practice in Sydney, Australia.
In 2005, I returned to South Africa and launched Veterinary Imaging Partner to provide a radiological consultancy to South African private veterinarians. From 2007-2012, I again worked at the University of Pretoria (UP) as a Senior Lecturer in Anatomy, and developed an in-depth knowledge of Imaging Anatomy. During 2014-2017, I worked as a part-time Senior Lecturer in Diagnostic Imaging for UP. I am currently also an international teleradiology consultant.
I currently live in Randfontein (West Rand), Gauteng with my husband and 2 daughters.
